NEWPORT, WA

The City of Newport, with a population of 2,114 is located on the Washington/Idaho border just west of the Pend Oreille River. With a comfortable elevation of 2,160 feet, Newport is a city that provides a unique experience of four distinct seasons.

 

We are less than an hour’s drive north of Spokane, which has an International airport for easy access to our city. One can see an abundance of wildlife including deer, elk, and moose along with wild birds including pheasants, turkeys, and at the right time of the year bald eagles.

PEND OREILLE COUNTY

Pend Oreille County is a county located in the northeast corner of the U.S. state of Washington, along the Canada–US border. As of the 2020 census, the population was 13,401. The county seat and largest city is Newport. 

 

The county is bound by Canada to its north and Idaho to its east. Most of the county is dominated by the rugged, mountainous Colville National Forest. The southern part of the county has forested foothills as well as drier hills and valleys. The Pend Oreille River runs the length of the county, providing electric power and recreation for the area.
